Grow it out and watch it happen
capture, re-capture, watch
Hair grows about a centimetre a month, slow enough to feel like nothing. Growing out a beard, a buzz cut or a fringe, or watching for regrowth, only reads when the photos sit side by side. Recaptr lines them up and turns the series into a clip.
Day 1 to week 12, same spot, same angle
How it works
- Start a project for the beard, or the hair, you are growing out.
- Each time you capture, a faint overlay of your last photo shows through, so the jawline, the hairline and the tilt of your head sit in the same place every time.
- Pick one angle and keep it. Profile shows length and shape; straight on shows density and the hairline. A second angle can be its own project.
- A weekly reminder is the right pace. Daily photos show the same beard; monthly ones skip the part you want to see.
- Compile the series into a timelapse and scrub through it to watch the patchy weeks fill in.
- Share the clip, or keep it as the answer to whether it was worth growing.
Why the overlay matters
Beard and hair photos drift. A slightly raised chin adds length, a closer phone adds density, a different parting changes the whole shape. The overlay holds the jawline, the ears and the parting exactly where they were last week, so growth is the only thing the timelapse shows.
Questions
How often should I take a photo?
Weekly. At roughly a centimetre a month, weekly frames move enough to see and little enough to flow. Set the reminder for the same day, after the same shower, in the same light.
Does it work for hair loss or regrowth?
It keeps an honest record from the same angle, which is what a regrowth question needs. Recaptr does not analyse hair or give advice; it shows you the frames so you can judge, or show someone who can.
Should I trim during the project?
Up to you. A trim shows up as a step in the playback, which is fine; the clip is a record, not a contest. Note the date if you want to remember why the line moved.
Where are my photos kept?
On your device. They stay there unless you turn on cloud backup with Pro. You can export or delete them at any time.
Free to start. Recaptr Pro adds cloud backup, 1080p exports, and no watermark.
