Gym progress photos that line up, every time
capture, re-capture, watch
A week of training shows nothing in the mirror. Six months does, but only if the photos match. Recaptr lines each progress photo up with the last one, so a training block or a cut plays back as one continuous change instead of a folder of mismatched selfies.
How it works
- Start a project for the angle you want to track. Most people begin with a front view; a side view can be its own project.
- Each time you capture, a faint overlay of your last photo shows through, so stance, shoulder height and distance to the camera match shot to shot.
- Set a weekly reminder for the same morning. Same time of day means the same light and the same you, before breakfast has a say.
- Wear the same kit and stand on the same spot. The overlay handles the framing; you only have to match your own outline.
- Compile the series into a timelapse and scrub through it to see the change the mirror hides.
- Share the clip, or keep it. Either way it is the record.
Why the overlay matters
Two progress photos taken a step apart with a different lean tell you nothing. The overlay holds your outline, the camera height and the distance to the wall in place across months, so when the timelapse plays the only thing moving is the body.
Questions
How often should I take progress photos?
Weekly suits most people. Daily photos record water weight and lighting more than muscle, and monthly gaps make the playback jump. Set a weekly reminder at a fixed time and let it run.
Front, side or back?
Whichever shows the change you care about. A cut reads best from the side, a bulk from the front. Each angle keeps its own overlay, so run them as separate projects rather than switching angles inside one.
Do I need a tripod?
No. Stand on the same spot and let the overlay match the camera height and distance for you. A propped phone helps, but the overlay is what keeps the frames consistent.
Where are my photos kept?
On your device. Progress photos are personal, so nothing is uploaded unless you turn on cloud backup with Pro. You can export or delete everything at any time.
Free to start. Recaptr Pro adds cloud backup, 1080p exports, and no watermark.
